Wow, it’s been quite a while, hasn’t it?

I’m not even sure where to begin. First of all, I want all of you to know that I miss Minecraft and especially the server.

As some of you already know, I’ve been having some issues IRL. They might seem trivial to some, but I have not been well during this time.
Because of this, I’m sad to announce that the planned relaunch of underd0g’s Custom Map Server has been put on hold indefinitely.

I know it’s late, and I too think that I should’ve mentioned this way earlier. You probably had this figured out already, but I felt an official statement was necessary.
I am not abandoning the server, and I am definitely not done with this game. I’ve been reading Notchs’ blog every day, and I’m thrilled to see that the game is almost in beta. Hopefully, most of you will keep playing until the server comes back online.

I’d also like to congratulate ecrider for the job he was offered a while ago :)

I guess it’s about time for an explanation

Nothing really happened, except for the fact that I (and the server) needed a break. There’s been alot going on recently, both IRL and with the server. It felt like it was more of a job than a game to me, and I don’t think that’s the purpose. I’m gonna try to relax sometimes and perhaps build something of my own every now and then :)

We’re having a relaunch soon, and hopefully some of you will come back to the server. The custom server that was planned has been put on hold, but it’s still on the horizon and we’ll see if we can figure something out.
Oh, and before I forget; We are still looking for more OPs.

Our previous map was a snow map. Unfortunately, that map got pretty chaotic due to the massive update Notch implemented. A few bugs followed, including one that prevented us from removing any solid blocks. We were unable to use the spawn prison because of this, hence the unusual amounts of griefing.

Much to our surprise, Notch himself decided to peek in and build a house. It kind of sucks that he had to see that map though, considering it’s state.

We’ve now changed maps since all the bugs are fixed and everything is back to normal. It’s yet another mountain map, but this time we have a pretty large forest in one of the corners. For some reason I couldn’t place any mushrooms though..

Apologies for not posting anything for the past few weeks. I’m just posting this to tell you that we have a big update for the server coming up soon, and I think you’re gonna like it. Stay tuned.

We’ve decided to take down the server for a few hours or so, the reason for this is mainly because some kid with anger management issues decided to crash the server after he got banned :) This isn’t a problem, and we’ll be making some adjustments as soon as possible to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

We had to wait a few extra hours before we could change to a new map due to some fixes we had to make to the server. Everything’s working properly now though, and we’ve finally moved on to a new map, and it’s actually something quite unique. It’s a tundra map, which practically means that it’s a flatmap with a snowy landscape. There are both water and ice on the map as well.

I’d also like to congratulate ecrider on his birthday :)

With the upcoming map change we’re also moving to completely new server. This means that the old URL for the server will not work, so if you bookmarked it you can’t use it anymore. If you wanna find the server again, go look in the list of minecraft servers and bookmark the new URL.

That we’re moving to a new server will mean significantly less downtime, more stability and easier management. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of ecrider; Thank you very much.

The floating islands map we just had was fun, but I personally prefer maps that are more “down to earth”, if you know what I mean. The new map is a mountain map - again! Lots and lots of caves on this one, since the islands-map had a severe lack of them.

We don’t do it often, but it happens. Am I talking about map changes? Hell no! I’m talking about downtime.
The server had to be taken down for approximately 2 hours earlier today. Nothing too serious, but people were getting kicked constantly due to “cheat detected”. This was obviously caused by lag (server side), but it’s solved now. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

This map was requested by alot of players. Consider this my “thanks” to everyone who comes here at a regular basis, since I rarely make maps according to requests.

Originally, this map was a darkmap. The sides and the top of the map were all covered in solids. On the insides there were several islands floating in the air, and a few more islands floating on the water at the bottom.
I thought it would be a good idea to change the map after a while, which I’ve done now; The ceiling and the walls are now gone, so that we get some sunshine. I’ve also planted some grass, since we couldn’t have that before.
